so, after dinner we went over to ikea where all the christmas trees are twenty dollars. i know what you are thinking; "what kind of tree can you get for twenty dollars?" i know this because i was thinking the same thing. obviously, we were not planning on getting a ginormous christmas tree (since we only have maybe a dozen ornaments that would look a little odd) but i didn't exactly want a charlie brown tree either.
the christmas tree lot! how cute, right? |
there was a ton to choose from and we ended up with a great tree. honestly, i think we just got lucky because i have discovered that christmas tree shopping is kind of difficult. first of all, christmas tree lots are outside which means you are basically shopping in the dark - you can barely see the trees. second of all, since the lots are outside it becomes incredibly hard to tell just exactly how tall these trees are because there is no ceiling to reference. thirdly, the trees are all wrapped up with twine and string so even if you are lucky enough to correctly gauge how tall of a tree you are buying there is absolutely no way to figure out how full the tree you are about to purchase is going to be. basically, it is a shot in the dark. so, like i said, we just got lucky.
obviously, it still needs to open |
emi does not understand the tree at all |
so, now we are just waiting for it to fall and then tomorrow we will decorate it. if the tree lasts until tomorrow. i am worried; emi has already ripped off 2 branches from the bottom. maybe when it finally falls and we decorate it with shiny bulbs and flashing lights she will be more intimidated and leave it alone? fingers crossed...
