updates

two blog posts in one week. it seems like i am on a roll.

first, i will start with an update on the wedding progress. all of "big ticket items", like the venue, caterer, the dress, the suits, the bridesmaids dresses, the flowers, the cake, and now the DJ, are booked. i was stressing out pretty hard earlier this week because i hadn't booked my DJ. i had emailed five or six companies and either didn't hear back, or heard back only to find out that they were booked because even though it is still three months until our wedding, that is basically tomorrow in wedding time. anyways, i was venting to my friend courtney who is also getting married and she gave me the name and number of this DJ company called stardustsounds that all the major wedding planners use. of course when i email them they say "they regret to inform me that they are booked on our date". so, i thank courtney and tell her that they are booked so i am still out of luck. well, bless courtney's little heart, she gets her aunt, lynn, who just so happens to be the biggest wedding planner in calgary, to call the company and convince them that they have to work our wedding as a favor to her. thankfully, courtney texts me about twenty minutes later telling me all i have to do is call the company number, speak to some man named bert, and we are good to go.  i was shocked and incredibly grateful. so, i obviously did as she said and now we are good to go. not only are we booked with a DJ but we are booked with the DJ that the number one wedding planner in town recommends. we are definitely lucky. it really is all about who you know.

so, on the puppy front, we took emi to the vet today. she was 32.5 lbs. i have decided she is not so slowly becoming massive. i am convinced that by the end of the month she will be too big for me to carry. i am not sure if i am going to be upset by this or relieved. either way, i better come to terms with it because she is obviously growing like a weed. i really want to start taking her to the off leash dog park but i am worried that she isn't trained enough. even though she is almost 33 lbs she is still only 13 weeks old. i just think it is really important for her to play with other bigger dogs. if we do go this weekend i am going to have to keep her on leash since she seems to forget all her training as soon as there is any sort of distraction aka other dogs or new smells.

i < 3 kijiji

i feel like at least once a month i begin a blog entry with the following sentence: "i am so sorry that i haven't blogged in such a long time but i have just been soooo busy". so, i will skip it this time (kinda). i figure that anyone that knows anything about what is going on in my life understands that i am definitely busy. between planning a wedding, training our new puppy, working on our new home,  and my busy social life i have very ittle time left over. recently, that little time i do have to myself has been consumed by scouring kijiji for an amazing deal. in the last week i have found two: my new papasan chair and my new storage chest.

first, last thursday, i found a papasan chair for $35. i have wanted a papasan chair forever. i remember begging my mom to buy me one from pier one when i was twelve years old. brand new the chair i wanted was about $200 so the fact that i found one in amazing shape for $35 is unbelievable! i have always been a bit sketched out about buying furniture on kijiji when fabric is involved; you never really know what is hanging out inside the foam or what went down on the fabric but, thankfully, the papasan chairs have a removable pillow / pad that i can throw in the wash if need be. luckily, the lady who we bought the chair from seemed super clean and it is in amazing shape - especially for having a white cushion. i am so amazingly pleased with it. it fits the space perfectly. i figure that when i decide to get grown up furniture i can just move it up to my office or guest bedroom. there is absolutely no way it wasn't worth every penny of the $35 dollars i spent.
papasan chair and a side table i refinished

the next amazing deal i found was this really neat blanket box / chest for $10. jesse and i actually went and picked it up about 45 minutes ago. i haven't decided if i am going to refinish it or not yet since it is in relatively good shape for being over fourty years old. i thought it was so cool because it was originally a 1970's radio that the owners hallowed out and made into a chest. the squares are one front are speakers. i loved it because it is definitely one of a kind. oh, and because it was $10.

the inside will be awesome for storage
so, with these two new additions my living room is finally coming together. i bought a really cool clock with a gift card i had to crate and barrel that definitely finished off my mantle. so, here are some pictures of the nearly finished product:

please ignore emi's favorite toy, "road kill", on the sofa.

emi JUST jumped off the papasan chair

emi all over everything, as always

emi trying to help me blog?

so, as you can see, emi is growing like a weed. she has got to be at least 30 lbs. we go to the vet on thursday so i can tell you exactly how massive she is after her check up. she is officially "tall" enough that she can jump up on the dinning room table / kitchen counter which means we need to be constantly watching her. currently, she is full of energy, furious that i am blogging instead of paying attention to her...
her new favorite move - hitting you from behind

hugs

begging me to play with road kill

what am i going to do when she weighs 130 lbs? ridiculous...
