back again

i haven't blogged at all lately; before the wedding, if i went through a dry spell i used to think that i was simply too busy to blog (which, i am sure was almost 100% true at the time) but since the wedding this "i-am-such-a-busy-bee" excuse is obviously not valid anymore.  during this last dry spell, i still had the urge to blog so i started thinking that there must be another reason for my lack of entries. i have decided that i am pretty sure i was beginning to think that there was nothing going on in my life that anyone would consider interesting enough to read about if i did decided to blog it out. don't get me wrong, jesse and i have not (yet) become an old married couple who get up, go to work, come home, immediately change into stained, holey sweat suits and warm up our ready-made microwavable dinners and eat them sitting in matching his-and-hers recliners in front of the television all night. no, we have not yet reached that mile marker on the road to holy matrimony. still, without the constant wedding plans i was beginning to feel like there was nothing of interest to report on but over the past few weeks i have really missed blogging so, unfortunately for all of my loyal readers (hopefully you are still regularly checking in on my little blog even though there hasn't been much action as of late), i may just have to bore you with the monotonous details of our lives as a newly wed couple... brace yourselves, it is all going to be overwhelmingly exciting!

well, since i have been absent for the last little while i feel obligated to fill you in a bit. since the wedding jesse and i have honestly just been enjoying a calm, newlywed existance. we make dinner, watch movies, HBO and pvr'd tv, drink wine (yes, jesse has finally acquired a taste for the vino), spend time with friends and family and work on little projects around the house. we have almost completely decorated our den / family room which feels like quite and accomplishment - we even purchased some art and hung it, along with other pictures, on the walls. for some reason hanging up the pictures made a massive difference - the room is beginning to feel finished; a minor accomplishment considering the state of our house as a whole, but whatever, i will take what i can get.

we have another new addiction the the family as well - jesse's truck. i refer to her as a new addiction because jesse is so completely enamoured with her that i feel as though she deserves a spot in the family. he loves her so much that if she wasn't a chunk of twisted metal and grinding gears i may be a little jealous. being a 2003, charcoal grey ford f-150 she is quiet an upgrade from the 1994 unreliable rust bucket that he was driving before. i am really happy for jesse though because he never buys anything for himself, he always puts me first, so he really deserves her and all the happiness she brings him.

since the wedding i have developed a few addictions. the first (and probably the worst) is my tassimo coffee maker. i.am.obsessed. i make myself a skinny latte multiple times a day with no shame. there is nothing better than turning on the machine, placing that little disc (bar code down, i have learnt) and hearing the hiss as it whips up a little latte for me right before my eyes. i love it.

my second addiction is words with friends, this stupid scrabble game on jesses iphone. it connects you to real life friends (like val, my brother, sister and father) and lets you play games with them electronically. i only play on evenings and weekends though since jesse takes his phone to work with him. this, i have decided, is probably a good thing seeing as i cannot get enough of words with friends - i worry what would become of me if i myself had an iphone and constant access to that stupid game. thank goodness i am stuck with my paperweight blackberry for the next 2 years.

third, and my most recent, would be my dearfoam slippers. they are purple and a little piece of heaven. seriously, they are like walking on clouds - literally a little piece of heaven. i am very worried though about how long i will be able to call them slippers because emi loves them much like all my other beloved footwear (she also has an obsession with both pairs of my ugg boots, specifically my grey knitted ones). the first hour i wore my dearfoam slippers emi kept pouncing on my feet, attempting to rip them off as i stood, sat and even while i walked. having a 80 lb dog constantly sneak-attack-pounce your feet was definitely not a good experience so the fact that i am still wearing them is a testament to how amazing they truly are. seriously people, stocking stuffers. buy.them.now.

another thing you need to buy is my fourth obsession - adele's cd, 21. now i am not one of those crazy music junkies who is constantly downloading new and exciting tunes (if you are one of those people, i am jealous of your dedication) so maybe my opinion is not overly valuable but really, i believe this cd is amazing - her voice is so raw and beautiful, a rarity for the music of our generation. my current favorites are someone like you, make you feel my love and one and only. jesse's favorite is set fire to the rain (yes, jesse

so, enough about my obsessions and onto jesse's. obviously, his greatest is the new truck but his latest is our new dyson vacuum. i know, a vacuum is definitely not the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about jesse and obsessions but believe me, he is obsessed. two of our good friends, josh and linsey, got it for us as a wedding gift but it was on lay away and didn't arrive until a few days ago. jesse was so excited he immediately put it together and got to work. he actually vacuumed all 2500 sq feet of our house in the first hour it was assembled. i can only reiterate jesse's rave review on its performance since i have yet to use it but i can tell you that it is the prettiest vacuum i have ever seen - josh and linsey were thoughtful enough to purchase the purple one for us...

so all and all, we are doing well. everyone keeps asking me if being married feels any different. at first i thought it was such a stupid question, like how everyone asks you if you feel any different on your birthday, you don't - you never do. but i am beginning to think that this is a bit different than the birthday question, we definitely feel different, better different, as odd as it seems.

so, i hope that now that all the wedding excitement is over and my blog entries are about our boring little lives as newlyweds you still find my blog posts interesting. please, keep reading... i promise i will do everything i can to keep it as interesting as possible!
